Sapa is a UK-based specialist provider of bespoke aluminium access platforms and ancillary products for aviation maintenance operations.

At our Redditch Application Centre in the UK, we design and manufacture a wide range of innovative, cost effective solutions that are already in use with some of the world’s leading airline companies.

Our focus is on the development of lightweight aluminium maintenance platforms that can be rapidly deployed for routine inspections and full defect rectifications around the clock. They enable safe and easy access to every part of an aircraft whilst improving the efficiency of maintenance operations and reducing critical turnaround times.

Construction
Our aviation maintenance platforms are constructed using non-magnetic aluminium extrusions that are welded and bolted for class-leading strength, rigidity and safety. Platforms are either fully assembled at our factory, or manufactured into sub-assembly parts and then assembled on site by our fully trained work force.

The robust, reliable and lightweight structures are easy to handle and corrosion-resistant, enabling them to be safely stored outside regardless of weather conditions.

Importantly, aluminium is fully recyclable and retains a significant residual value when specific aircraft types are decommissioned and the platforms are no longer of use.

Safety
Maintenance platforms supplied by Sapa are manufactured under ISO 9001 quality procedures and meet all ‘Working at Height’ and Health & Safety regulations worldwide.

The platforms feature durable, non-slip, ribbed aluminium decks with built-in hand and guard rails as well as kickboards around all working areas to provide a safe working environment.

Rapid Deployment
Sapa’s maintenance platforms can be deployed rapidly delivering significant time savings over traditional scaffold based systems which could take up to seven days to build. They can be fully adjustable with height levelling to ensure platforms are securely positioned. Sturdy, lockable wheels enable them to be quickly rolled into position.

Each set has soft edged buffers to avoid aircraft damage. The platforms can also be colour coded according to the aircraft for which they have been designed. This enables staff to quickly deploy the correct system when required.

Fabrication Services
Sapa also offers a range of in-house bespoke fabrication services including the design, machining, welding, cutting and bending of aluminium profiles to meet a wide range of applications.

We are experts in all aspects of fabrication and have installed the latest technologies and processes such as CNC machining (3, 4 & 5 axis) up to 12 metres, MIG/TIG welding, presswork, bending and forming through to finishing and assembly. This enables us to consistently deliver high quality solutions including benches, racks, storage racks and cages, maintenance racks, mezzanines and fixed or towable access steps.

Consultancy
Sapa can design the optimum maintenance solution to meet the ergonomic requirements of hangars from concept to reality.

After confirming precise client requirements during a site visit, our design team and in-house manufacturing operation work in partnership to deliver the perfect solution. We can respond to the shortest deadlines as we control the whole process without the need to subcontract.
